This package offers a more comprehensive analysis of your current fertility status, what treatment options may be available to you and which particular fertility journey will be most suited to you and your partner.

For women

At your first visit with us at London Fertility Centre you will start by having an ovarian reserve blood test which detects your levels of female fertility hormones including follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinzing hormone (LH), oestradial (E2), prolactin (PRL) and anti-mullerian hormone (AMH). You will then have a transvaginal ultrasound scan to detect how many follicles are present within your ovaries. This is known as an antral follicle count (AFC) and gives a good estimate of your ovarian reserve.

Approximately two weeks later, we will arrange a second transvaginal ultrasound scan to look for changes related to your ovulation. We also check the lining of your womb for any abnormalities. Your full results, treatment options available to you and which particular fertility journey will be most suited to you will be explained to you during a consultation with one of our doctors. The whole appointment takes around 60 minutes including the scan.

For men

You will visit one of our dedicated men’s rooms to produce a sample. These private, purpose-built rooms are directly linked to our laboratory, so once you have your sample you will place it on a small shelf and our embryologists will collect it after you have left.

We carry out an analysis of the sperm to check its quality. We look at volume, viscosity (how fast your semen liquefies), density (how many sperm you have), motility (what percentage move), progression (how fast they move), abnormal forms (how many have abnormal shape), cells (occurrence of white blood cells), debris (any extra debris may relate to your general well being) and agglutination (motile sperm that stick to other motile sperm). We also perform an antibody test. Your results will be available the same day.

Couples consultation

Immediately following the second scan, together you will have a consultation with a doctor to discuss both of your results, treatment options available to you and which particular fertility journey will be most suited to you as a couple. Your second scan and the consultation will take around 60 minutes. You will be given copies of blood and semen results to take away with you if you wish.
